Airbrushing

As we all should know, not all celebs and models have perfect skin, so that's what this tutorial is for =P this tutorial will show how to turn blemished uneven skin to soft, clear, smooth skin, you can even try it on some photos of yourself =P anyways....

1) save this picture of Jessica Simpson and open it in PhotoShop.

2) First lets remove any blemishes on the skin, she has a few freckles that look cute but they have to be removed for this tutorial. Select the Healing Brush tool [Screen shot], and go to an area of clear skin next to the blemish, hold the ALT key and left click with your mouse [Screen Shot], this will load the healing brush with that area of skin. Now move your mouse over the blemish [screen shot], and left click, TAH DA! the blemish has gone [screen shot], do that for the other blemishes.

3) once you've removed the blemishes, duplicate the layer (CTRL + J or Layer -> Duplicate layer) then click Filter -> Noise -> Dust & Scratches and set the Radius to 2 and leave the threshold at 0, click ok.

4) Now Click Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 2, click ok. It should be looking all blurred and weird now, that's how it should look =)

5) Now we need to turn the duplicate layer into a mask, so click Layer -> Layer mask -> hide all, and your layers palette should look like this [screen shot]

6) Select a small-ish round soft brush, first start off with size 20 and Opacity 80%. Brush over the larger skin areas of her face, change the brush size and opacity for different areas of her face such as her nose. When you brush it'll be like blurring the skin so DO NOT go over her eyes, mouth or hairline, it'll just look weird, look at his picture for a guide on where to brush [Click] the numbers indicate the strength of the opacity, so, BLUE = Opacity 20 RED = Opacity 80 GREEN = Opacity 50 got it? =).

7) Merge the layers (layers -> flatten image) and you should have something like this....

I also sharpened the eyes with the sharpen tool (size 18 strength 60%) & duplicated the base and set it to screen 40%.
